Many of these parts require the coolant and oil level in the system to be at proper level to provide lubrication and cooling. In fact, some A/C system with low refrigerant level may maintain proper room temperature but overheat the motor windings of the compressor which will thermal age the compressor. Next to an A/C set too low, this is the #2 leading cause of premature compressor failure
ost A/C units are designed to provide a room temperature of 20?C. Setting thermostats lower then 20?C risks freezing up the cooling coil which reduces the efficiency of the equipment, will reduce the capacity to the point that it will not cool at all and eventfully damage the compressor… costing several hundred dollars to repair. Thermostats set too cold is the number one cause of premature compressor failure.
